In Conversation with Senator Ratna Omidvar: The Charity Sector Reform

Join Senator Ratna Omidvar and Co-Chairs of the Federal Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector, Hillary Pearson (founding President of PFC) and Bruce MacDonald (CEO of Imagine Canada) to discuss the future of philanthropy in the context of the most recent policy developments in the Charitable Sector. During this webinar, Senator Omidvar will outline the ground-breaking Bill S-222 she sponsored and now tabled in Parliament. Entitled the Effective and Accountable Charities Act, the bill will amend the Income Tax Act to enable charities to establish equal partnerships with non-charities – such as not-for-profits, social enterprises, co-ops, or civil society groups – while still ensuring accountability and transparency. Senator Omidvar’s keynote will be followed by a presentation by the co-chairs of the Federal Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector, Hilary Pearson and Bruce MacDonald.
