Indigenous Gathering for PFC Member Organizations

 A space for Indigenous staff and board members across the PFC network 

Philanthropic Foundations Canada (PFC) is honoured to invite Indigenous people working within PFC member organizations to a dedicated circle of connection, reflection, and shared learning. This gathering builds on the spirit of our recent Reconciliation Roundtable and responds to a clear need expressed by Indigenous colleagues across the network: a space held by and for Indigenous people working in philanthropy. 

This session will bring together First Nations, Inuit, and Métis staff and board members from across the country, in any role or level of experience, to connect in a supportive environment grounded in relationality, care, and cultural safety. Together, we will explore what it means to navigate philanthropic institutions as Indigenous people, share stories and strategies, and strengthen a community of practice that honours our identities, responsibilities, and collective leadership. 

Through conversation, reflection, and gentle facilitation, we will create space to: 

• Connect with other Indigenous colleagues working across the philanthropic sector 

• Share experiences, challenges, and opportunities in navigating institutional systems 

• Explore how Indigenous values, teachings, and worldviews shape our work 

• Identify what support, learning, and community we want to build together 

• Consider how PFC can continue to uplift Indigenous leadership and create pathways for ongoing connection 

This gathering is not a consultation or a formal meeting. It is a circle for grounding, relationship building, and mutual support. Participants are welcome to join in whatever way feels right — listening, sharing, or simply being present. 

Who this gathering is for: 

 Indigenous people (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) working in any capacity within a PFC member organization, including staff, leadership, board members, and those in part‑time, contract, or emerging roles. 

Format: 

Virtual circle gathering with light facilitation, guided conversation, and breakout spaces.
