Funder Affinity Groups There are several ways grantmaking organizations can connect with peers in the sector, through PFC Convened Funder Affinity Groups, and PFC Connects which is a directory of networks and peer groups active in the sector. Through shared professional interests, members of these groups and networks collaborate, learn, and build relationships by providing a supportive environment for exchanging ideas, tackling challenges, and deepening expertise through regular meetings, discussions, and collaborative projects. There is no cost to participate, and it is open to grantmaking organizations, PFC members and non-members alike. PFC’s Affinity groups meet during Spring and Fall, and usually meet 2-6 times a year, depending on the group. In addition to in-person meetings, we offer a group specific listserv for real-time communication with Affinity Group members. All meetings are virtual to host members from coast to coast to coast. Through our Professional Development offerings, PFC works with subject matter experts and peers to provide training that supports staff and board members to increase knowledge, improve skills and translate this knowledge and skills into real life applications. PFC Convenes Housing Funders Affinity Group The Housing Funders Affinity Group is a group of philanthropic funders engaged in focused dialogue on housing as one of the defining issues of our time. It’s a forum to share insights, elevate impactful strategies, and examine how we—as a community—can align our efforts to drive systemic change. PFC Convenes Investment Roundtable The Invesment Roundtable is a regular facilitated and peer-driven series of discussions for investment practitioners and leaders who have oversight and influence on their foundations’ investment practices. PFC Convenes Leaders of Colour in Philanthropy The Leaders of Color in Philanthropy Affinity Group is peer-driven group that provides an opportunity for leaders of color in philanthropic organizations to network and share information and best practices. PFC Connects Mental Health and Wellness Affinity Group The Mental Health and Wellness Affinity Group (MHWAG) is a collaborative of Canada-based philanthropic funders that support work in mental health and wellness. PFC Connects Mission Related Investment Collaborative The MRI Collaborative is a peer community of asset owners, primarily private foundations, who engage in various activities together to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing. Professional Development Mission-Aligned Investing to Maximize Philanthropic Impact “Mission-aligned investments” mobilize your entire investment portfolio to maximize your philanthropic impact. While many foundations have adopted this practice, there are still a lot of barriers to getting started. PFC Connects New Power Labs New Power Labs is a collaborative platform to inform, co-create, and mobilize new approaches and practices to flow capital more equitably. They are accelerating equitable access to capital in Canada through collaborative research, convenings, education, and benchmarking. PFC Convenes Program and Grantmaking Staff Affinity Group (PGSAG) PGSAG brings together program and grantmaking staff from foundations and grantmaking organizations across Canada to explore key topics related to program management, funding strategies, and philanthropic practices. PFC Connects Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Funders Affinity Group SOGI Funders’ Affinity Group comprises representatives from Canadian-based philanthropic funders and governments that have a particular interest in funding charities supporting the 2SLGBTQi+ and additional people who identify as part of sexual and gender diverse communities both within and outside Canada. PFC Connects Small Foundations Group We generally meet virtually on a bi-monthly basis from September to June. We offer a welcoming, supportive space for individuals to connect with other small foundations, share […] PFC Connects The Circle on Philanthropy The Circle on Philanthropy works alongside members to transform the philanthropic sector to redistribute wealth, activate wisdom and strengthen organizational infrastructure for the purpose of Indigenous peoples, organizations, communities and nations. PFC Connects The Early Child Development Funders Working Group The Early Child Development Funders Working Group (ECDFWG) was established in 2009 as a group of foundations coming together with a simple goal; ensure the availability of quality, publicly funded, early childhood education for every preschool child in Canada.
