Funder Affinity Groups Affinity Groups bring together individuals from grantmaking organizations, including PFC members and non-members, with shared professional interests to collaborate, learn, and network. These peer-led groups provide a supportive environment for exchanging ideas, tackling challenges, and deepening expertise through regular meetings, discussions, and collaborative projects. Organizations eligible to be included in these groups for funders are: private foundations, public foundations (community foundation), corporate giving programs, not-for-profit grantmakers, government grantmakers, and donor advised funds. Professional Development Our Capacity Building initiatives bring grantmakers together to connect, learn, and bring about solutions that advance the common good and work towards more impactful philanthropy. Our three areas of focus – Capacity Building, Collaboration, Research and Policy – are mutually reinforcing and are at the core of PFC’s work. Through our Professional Development Capacity Building initiatives, PFC offers peer learning opportunities and educational resources for our membership and sector peers. PFC Connects Artificial Intelligence for Social Impact Collaborative The purpose of this Collaborative is to explore the role of philanthropy and the social impact sectors in shaping the development of emerging technologies and how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help shift power, transform systems and create better futures where everyone belongs. PFC Convenes Arts Funders Affinity Group The Arts Funders Affinity Group is a group of philanthropic arts funders that fosters a collective commitment to the arts, supporting the exchange of ideas, learning about relevant news, and working together on impactful arts funding strategies. Professional Development CEO Retreat The CEO Retreat is an annual in-person gathering and community of peers for PFC member CEOs (or equivalent title), to discuss key issues and important developments in the sector in an informal but facilitated format. PFC Convenes CEO Support Group Cohort The CEO Support Group 2025 cohort initiative is for Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors, or other equivalent leadership positions, who have identified a desire and a need to share information, strengthen sector relationships, and support one another as sector throughout the year. PFC Convenes Communications Affinity Group The Communications Affinity Group is a forum where practitioners from across the PFC network gather regularly to discuss important or emerging communications and public affairs issues relevant to Canadian foundations, philanthropy, and the wider non-profit and charitable sector.
