PFC Guest Posts: We want to hear from you! If you would like to share an opinion, research data, or a story regarding philanthropy in Canada that you think the sector would be interested in, we’d love to hear from you! At PFC, we continually hear from our network that foundation staff, board members, and others in the sector love to learn from their peers, and to hear from them about what’s new, what they should be thinking about, and why these issues matter. One way we amplify the voices of our network is to profile their work and perspectives in their own words. Publishing a Guest Blog to the News & Insights section of the PFC website allows network leaders to share relevant news and outlooks with their community of colleagues across Canada. We’re always on the lookout for writing from the PFC network that draws from its diversity of perspectives – including our Members, Supporters, and Partners! We invite you to submit a pitch for consideration. Please take some time to review this entire page – it should answer any question you have about what kind of content we’re looking for and how the submission process works. Guest Post Guidelines for PFC Blog What you need to know Our Guest Blogs represent the diverse voices, expertise, and perspectives of the broader PFC network, and offer unique thought leadership or comprehensive guides that teach our readers something new about the world of philanthropy in Canada or help reflect about the sector. Posts would ideally touch on one of PFC’s three interconnected focus areas – Capacity Building, Collaboration, and Research and Policy – the core of our work, which you can read more about in our 2025-2028 Strategic Framework. In the lead up to our 2026 National Conference, we also encourage posts that speak to the theme of Reciprocity. In the articles we publish, we’re also looking for: New or repurposed original content Compelling and data-driven arguments, with high-quality writing Casual yet helpful and informative writing styles and tone, using plain language Proper attribution of data, quotations, and outside content referenced A link to your organization’s website in the body of the post, and links to relevant content NO solicitation 300 and 1000 words Submissions written in English or French Photos to accompany, with credit and one sentence descriptions Real-life stories and examples that illustrate your points or arguments Our audience Guest blog posts are posted to the News & Insights section of the PFC website. They are also shared in our monthly newsletter, which has a readership of PFC members, sector leaders, philanthropic organizations, and the broader charitable sector. We often post on LinkedIn as well. Examples of different post types Thought leadership Posts: Sometimes called ToFu (Top of Funnel Posts), these posts are created with broad-based audiences in mind. They’re usually related to larger trends or issues, and are lighter in nature but designed to make the reader think. How-To Posts: These posts give readers tactical takeaways that are supported by relevant, recent examples, original quotes, original graphics, and current data. When readers finish this type of post, they should be able to immediately execute on the given topic and have very few questions left on how to do it. Graphics-Based Posts: These posts rely heavily on an infographic or video created by the author. Usually, they feature a few paragraphs of introduction, the embedded media itself, and not much else. The graphic should be comprehensive and easy to read, have a compelling narrative, contain plenty of white space, and feature up-to-date data that’s properly sourced. Stories: Specific examples or stories that are related to trends or issues and demonstrate a personal journey with a conclusion for the reader. What we won’t accept Similar posts or specific topics that have been covered on our blog in the recent past Post clearly aimed at business development Anything that’s offensive, harmful, or inaccurate Though we published critical opinions, we will not publish anything that targets specific individuals or organizations Submissions not directly relevant to the PFC network How to Submit Your Post To pitch a post, please fill in the form below to share your ideas. If we decide to move forward with your post, we will ask for: Short author bio and headshot, including a maximum of one anchor text link to your own website Your article in a Word Doc Image files (with attribution) as separate files – not embedded in your article. Images need to be 400px wide and 200px high. PFC may request edits or decline a submission upon receipt of the full Guest Blog post, to ensure all articles published on our website meet our editorial standards. The not-so-fine print Submissions must meet PFC’s quality standards in order to get published. Once published, we encourage you to widely share the pfc.ca link to your post on our site, rather than copy the content directly to your own blog, LinkedIn, Medium, or any other site afterward. PFC may request to edit, adapt, or update your post in the future. PFC aims to publish Blog posts in both official languages, with translation provided by PFC if not submitted by the author.
