Meeting the Moment: Network Gathering and Policy Roundtable in Vancouver

12 November 2025 / Registration Open

Invitation

BC-based and visiting PFC network members are cordially invited to join us on Wednesday, November 12, at The Houssian Foundation located at 2150 – 745 Thurlow St. in Vancouver, for a lunchtime (11:30 AM-1:30 PM) collaborative discussion on how we can navigate Canada’s evolving political and economic landscape together.

This gathering is being planned as a pre-event lunch for the PFC network ahead of ‘The Walrus Talks Philanthropy in a Changing Canada: How philanthropy is evolving to meet the needs of the communities it serves, which is being hosted later that evening at SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts – Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema, Vancouver.

Program

Canada’s political and economic landscape is evolving, shaped not only by domestic developments but also by the significant influence of the current U.S. administration. These shifts are redefining the context in which we operate—introducing new priorities, narratives, and challenges that affect our economic stability, national sovereignty, and collective security.

In this dynamic environment, Canadian foundations are uniquely positioned to respond with foresight and purpose. As stewards of long-term social investment, we are called to make informed, strategic decisions that strengthen resilience and advance meaningful impact. This moment invites us to reflect, adapt, and collaborate—ensuring our work remains relevant and responsive in a rapidly changing world.

As part of PFC’s 2025 Meeting the Moment initiative, this lunch-time gathering of local PFC network members will be hosted by PFC President & CEO Jean-Marc Mangin at the offices of PFC member Houssian Foundation. Kate Hammer, Interim CEO, Vancouver Foundation will also join to offer remarks and co-facilitate with Jean-Marc in a discussion on:

    • The Canadian political environment to date

    • Policy opportunities related to the regulatory environment and our sector, and what’s on the horizon

    • Philanthropy’s role in driving systems-level change through advocacy and collaboration
