I find hope in the willingness of Canadians, of governments, of the private sector to step up and to innovate to match the shifting and rapidly expanding needs. This willingness to step up includes foundations. Philanthropic Foundations Canada is collaborating with Community Foundations of Canada Environment Funders Canada and The Circle on Philanthropy and Aboriginal Peoples in Canada. This collective effort has resulted in a joint statement geared towards our members. We are all committed to providing our membership and broad philanthropic sector with a sense of possible direction, with information sharing and analysis, with capacity-building and, when required, with leadership during this unprecedented global COVID-19 crisis. This is a major test of citizenship and solidarity for all of us. We must rely on one another and pull together. Philanthropic foundations can assist in strengthening the ties that bind us as a society. Foundations are encouraged to adapt these principles to their programming and financial commitments. This is the hour of need for the charitable sector. We stand with our partners now. In the coming days and weeks, we will be sharing concrete examples of philanthropic initiatives across Canada.
