Scaling Up and Scaling Out: The Experience of The Fourth R (Relationship) Program in Alberta

The Fourth R (Relationship) program is a teacher-delivered, school-based program designed to provide young people (grade 7 to 12) with the information and skills they need to build healthy relationships and prevent dating and intimate partner violence. The program was developed by the CAMH Centre for Prevention Science in Ontario, and is now being delivered in over 3500 schools across Canada.  This case will demonstrate how a foundation, university, government and mental health institution are working together to help expand the reach of the Fourth R in classrooms throughout Alberta, and to systematically integrate evidence based practices into teacher training, community organizations and education policy.
