Hilary Pearson has been President of Philanthropic Foundations Canada since November 2001. Her thirty-year career has spanned all three sectors, public, private and not-for-profit. She has extensive experience in the federal public sector where she worked for over 12 years as a policy analyst and senior manager. In 1993, Ms. Pearson became Vice-President of Strategic Development at Royal Bank of Canada. From 1996 to 2001 she was a management consultant, working with a wide range of clients, from national membership organizations and operating charities to local organizations in the health, cultural and social services field. She provided services ranging from Board retreat facilitation, through strategic planning, to program evaluation and organizational development.

Ms. Pearson holds a BA and an MA in Political Economy from the University of Toronto, and an Honourary Doctorate from Carleton University.

 

Liza Goulet, Director, Research and Member Services

Liza Goulet joined Philanthropic Foundations Canada in 2002. She worked for over fifteen years as a consultant specializing in children’s rights and healthy child development in the voluntary sector, in the federal governments in Canada and internationally. She developed a variety of resources on children’s rights, including a university level course on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Ms. Goulet was coordinator of the Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children, a national member-based association of organizations in the voluntary sector.

Ms. Goulet holds a BA Honours in Communications as well as a graduate diploma in International Development and Cooperation from the University of Ottawa. She completed doctoral level courses in children’s rights and child development at the University of Victoria.

 

Sarah Pinchevsky, Program Officer

Sarah Pinchevsky joined Philanthropic Foundations Canada in October 2012. Prior to joining PFC, she was Project Coordinator for OmniGlobe Networks, a technology company providing cellular and internet service to remote and rural communities worldwide. She has also held community development positions in Canada with Katimavik and YMCA, as well as internships internationally with U.N. Women (New York), World Youth Service and Enterprise (Italy), Foundation for AIDS Orphaned Children (Uganda), among others.

Ms. Pinchevsky holds a BA in Psychology, with a concentration in Child Development, from Dalhousie University and an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalization from the London School of Economics.

 

Micheline Parent, Administrator

Micheline Parent joined Philanthropic Foundations Canada in October 2002. She worked with the Business Families Foundation (BFF) in Montréal for four years as an administrative secretary. BFF is a non-profit organization offering families in business, and the professionals working with them, guidance on managing family businesses. She has considerable experience in administration and office management, having spent 18 years working as an administrative assistant at an oil company.
