4 Foundations to Philanthropy: Listen More to Nonprofits and Speak Less
Four foundations in the U.S. (Skoll, Draper Richards Kaplan, Ford and Porticus) have found that although many foundations want to effectively apply their resources toward large societal problems, too often their structures, the way they fund and their relationship with grantees make those goals a challenge. RPA has produced a report Scaling Solutions Toward Changing Systems summarizing thinking about how to shift funder behavior to apply resources more effectively to bring about change.
Last week’s PFC 2017 Symposium focused on similar themes of strengthening community capacity, bringing voices inside the foundation and bridging between philanthropy and community. PFC will be launching videos of these important discussions shortly.
